Job Summary

The Mortgage and Consumer Loan Officer (LO) assists clients with the origination of residential mortgage loans for purposes of purchase, refinance and construction, including providing analysis and advice to current and prospective clients on home lending solutions that meet their needs and financial objectives. The loans can be for primary, secondary or rental homes.  The LO will also assist clients with the origination of various consumer loans.

The LO is expected to develop referrals as a means to grow lending business and client base. The LO is expected to maintain high standards of client satisfaction and loan quality.

Responsibilities

  • Searches out prospects for home lending business to build and develop new client loan originations and relationships.
  • Develop referral relationships with those of influence such as realtors, title company employees, contractors, etc.
  • Originate applications, underwrite and process 1-4 family residential real estate mortgage loans in accordance with established policies, procedures, product guidelines and in compliance with all federal and state regulations.
  • Originate applications, underwrite and process consumer loans in accordance with established policies, procedures, product guidelines and in compliance with all federal and state regulations.
  • Responsible for gathering documents at the time of accepting a loan application and will remain the primary point of contact for the client during the duration of the loan process
  • Maintain high standards of client satisfaction and quality, in part by being timely with the loan process and maintaining consistent communication with the client
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of products and services offered by RG BANK, including deposit products so we can ask for deposit business.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of competitors, competitive products and the home and consumer lending industry as a whole, to provide input to Chief Lending Officer and others in management.
  • Maintains proper reports and tracking of loans in process.
  • Responds to audit findings by taking corrective action, when necessary, and or documenting the file to address the findings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
  • Complies with the policies and expected behavior RG BANK Employee Handbook, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of RG BANK, RG BANK customers and the communities RG BANK serves.

This job will be in Monte Vista, CO, but occasional work in one of our offices in Alamosa, CO or Pagosa Springs, CO may be necessary.  Travel to title company offices, realtor offices, and other locations will be a necessity at times.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Business related field or equivalent experience

Necessary Skills

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Proficient in sales and service skills; including financial consulting, prospecting and networking.
  • Strong math and or financial abilities and understanding
  • Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word proficiently

Skills and Experience That Will Be a Plus for a candidate

  • Ability to speak, read and write Spanish
  • If no direct loan officer experience, experience in a related field where candidate had to win business, develop referrals and build a client base.

Physical Demands

  • General Office – Prolonged sitting, long visits and or conversations face to face or on the phone with co-workers and clients, frequent use of PC/laptop, occasional lifting/pushing/pulling of backpacks, computer bags, files, up to 10 lbs.

Compensation

The range of compensation for this position is $50,000 to $78,000 depending on experience. Potential for higher salary to someone with a long and proven experience, record of consistently generating loan leads, and growing a portfolio.
