About Us

This is RG BANK

RG BANK is headquartered in Monte Vista, Colorado. We have branches in Alamosa and Pagosa Springs. Together, these three locations serve the 8 southern Colorado counties of Rio Grande, Alamosa, Archuleta, Saguache, Conejos, Costilla, Mineral, and Hinsdale.

RG BANK is a mutually owned savings association. RG BANK prides itself on being committed to the mutual form of ownership, mutual meaning that the depositors and borrowers hold voting rights. The mutual form of ownership allows RG BANK to invest more into our communities with donations, memberships, and sponsorships; into the bank with facilities, equipment, software, services, and products; and, into our employees.

RG BANK has a formal name of RG BANK, a Savings and Loan Association, having “a Savings and Loan Association” in the name, as it is required by state law.  We market ourselves to our customers and communities as RG BANK.

In 1905, the Association was founded as the Monte Vista Building Association and we still operate under that original bank charter. Then as now, true to the roots of a “Savings and Loan Association,” RG BANK is still driven by the tenet “neighbors helping neighbors.”

Daniel Baker

COO

Team Member Since 2022

Baker began his banking career in 2011 working as a contractor to Bank of America. Due to Baker’s job being remote it afforded him the ability to move to the San Luis Valley to be closer to his parents. The majority of Baker’s career has been in management and customer service, and although it has been eclectic it has given him a solid understanding of the term servant leadership and how to apply that to the needs of the customer.

Baker graduated from the University of Phoenix with his MBA in 2012. His focus was on Project Management and Information Security Systems. He currently volunteers with Scouts BSA, including as Scoutmaster for Troop 307 for 9 years before stepping back and becoming the Chartered Organization Representative for troops 1307 and 307 as well as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 307.

Baker, his wife Amber, and their two children started a small hobby farm in 2016 where he spends his free time. He enjoys working with his family on projects around the farm, attending camping trips with the Scout Troops, and wandering in the mountains.

Charles "Chuck" Bryant, Jr.

DIRECTOR

BOD Member Since 1990

Chuck began working for RG Bank in early 1975 as the association's first in-house appraiser. It wasn't too long before his duties began to include working as a loan officer. Within a couple of years it became obvious that Chuck could not fully function and perform both duties as appraising required a lot of time out of the office and the loan officer position required being in the office to serve borrowers. Chuck was given the option of either of the positions and he chose to be a loan officer as he saw more potential for advancement in that role.

In 1983, Chuck was appointed to the position of chief loan officer. During this period he promoted and oversaw the construction of both the Pagosa Springs and Alamosa branch offices.

Chuck was appointed President and CEO of the association in 1986. He became a member of the board of directors in 1990. Chuck retired from his management role in June of 2012, but has remained an active member of the board of directors since that time.

Eric Kimberling

DIRECTOR

BOD Member Since 2018

Eric is a San Luis Valley native with deep roots in the Agricultural community. He began his professional life as a Grain Merchandiser for Rio Grande Commodities in 1996. In 2013 he and his business partner purchased that business and now own and operate Rio Grande Seed & Grain.

He enjoys working with ag producers from all over the valley. Eric’s interest in our bank goes as far back as he can remember, his parents are longtime customers of the bank. Helping families and businesses achieve their financial needs and dreams is what drives Eric’s commitment to this bank.

Eric is a graduate of Colorado State University with an Ag Business degree. He is a past President and current BOD member for Ski Hi Stampede and is also the President of the Monte Vista Community Ambulance Service. Eric and his wife have 2 adult children and love spending time together in the mountains, hiking, hunting and exploring.

Jason P. Cox

DIRECTOR

Team Member Since 2023

As a serial entrepreneur, Jason has worked with his share of banking and finance companies. Through 15 years in Pagosa Springs, Jason has served on the boards of a number of enterprises including the Archuleta County Fair, Archuleta Housing Corporation, Pagosa Springs Community Development Corporation and now the Upper San Juan Health Service District (Pagosa Springs Medical Center).

After Texas Tech University bestowed a degree upon Jason, he moved to Denver and thereafter gained meaningful employment while seeking and obtaining a Master's Degree in Computer Information Systems from the University of Denver. Seeking to get closer to his grandparents in Northern New Mexico while starting and owning a worldwide software company, Jason and his wife Shelly moved to Pagosa Springs in 2008 and have since determined that Pagosa is home.

Shelly and Jason Cox own and operate two Riff Raff Brewing Company locations in downtown Pagosa Springs, Colorado, as a primary enterprise. Shelly actually runs brewpub operations while the jury still is out on Jason's actual role and value in that enterprise.

Jason does have a few interests beyond brewing extending into property management, broadband connectivity, software engineering and snow removal. And drinking craft beer definitely never hurts the beginning of a friendship.
